Slađana Štrkalj Ivezić, psychiatrist, University psychiatric hospital Vrapče, Croatia The aim is to present the importance of educating psychiatrists acquire competencies relate knowledge, attitudes and behavior in holistic understanding patients, implementation principles recovery respect for human rights use alternative interventions coercion order eliminate or reduce coercive practice such as involuntary hospitalizations measures. All necessary competences clinical assessment, skills form therapeutical relationship application evidence base that can prevent significantly measures: de-escalation; availability a comfort room with sensory modulation; trained response team; joint crisis intervention, advance directives successful multimodal strategies will be presented including elimination potential environmental triggers aggression setting. training education on rights, alternatives abolish coercion.
